Two days ago I got a good deal on the veggie discount rack at Arámburo, about 3 pounds of jícama for $8.50 (pesos, about 43 cents US). I shredded it, added about 1/4 of it to my batch of lentils, and brined the rest. It's already tasting pleasantly sour.
