also, since nobody but me cared for the quince I cooked up with locally-foraged wild mint last night, I double-bagged it in oven bags and placed it in the sun atop the bear box, with an oven thermometer in the outer bag. the thermometer took about two hours to climb to just under 150 degrees F and hasn't gone higher, but I suspect the inner bag temp is a little better. it should be softer and tastier tonight.
