I just thought of something I saw in the predawn twilight approaching L.A. this morning: a massive forest, not of trees, but of gigantic steel cylinders with propellers, some inert, others turning slowly in the slight breeze coming off the Pacific. According to this description I'm guessing it was the San Gorgonio wind farm. It would be pretty impressive any time of day, but was almost surreal at that time. Thank the Californians for leading the US in innovation on so many vital fronts.
